(1) The traction force of the belt conveyor is transmitted by the friction between the transmission roller and the belt, so the belt must be tightened with a tensioning device, so that the belt has a certain initial tension at the separation of the transmission roller.
(2) The tape runs on the idler together with the cargo. The tape is both a traction mechanism and a bearing mechanism. There is no relative movement between the cargo and the tape, which eliminates the frictional resistance between the tape and the cargo during operation. Since the roller is equipped with rolling bearings, there is rolling friction between the belt and the roller, so the running resistance is greatly reduced, thereby reducing the power consumption and increasing the transportation distance. For a belt conveyor, the transmission capacity of the traction force depends on the tension of the belt, the wrapping angle of the belt on the drive roller and the friction coefficient between the belt and the drive roller. To ensure that the belt of the belt conveyor does not slip on the drive roller and operates normally, corresponding measures should be taken according to different situations in production practice. To improve the transmission ability of traction force can start from the following aspects:
a. Increase the tension (initial tension). During the operation of the belt conveyor, the belt will be stretched, causing the traction force to drop. Therefore, according to the situation, use the tensioning device to properly tighten the belt and increase the belt tension to improve the traction force.
b. Increase the coefficient of friction. The specific measures are: protect the wood lining or rubber and other linings covered on the transmission drum to increase the friction coefficient, on the other hand, reduce the amount of water and coal to prevent the friction coefficient from decreasing.
c. Increase the enclosing angle. Due to the poor working conditions of the underground belt conveyor, the required traction force is large, so double-roller transmission is often used to increase the wrapping angle.
